Tuesday January 1, 1946:
As I start this new
five year Diary, may God
guide this period of my life

Wednesday January 2, 1946:
Jack + Bertha+ family here
yesterday. Alan here today
He paid Mason. no snow now

Thursday January 3, 1946:
Pop + Earl up to Wm O
Mitchells to write out Deeds
got Ralphs and ours

Friday January 4, 1946:
There’s allways a bright
tomorrow for a yesterday
of tears

Saturday January 5, 1946:
Earl, Enos and Pop back
across Abecomeback Lake dividing
their wood land yesterday

Sunday January 6, 1946:
Edna and children here
for dinner. Hall and
Fred + Pop here tonight

Monday January 7, 1946:
I washed and left
the clothes out all night
no snow or hauling yet

Tuesday January 8, 1946:
Bud gone in town
to meet Hon
Mason down this afternoon

Wednesday January 9, 1946:
I washed and ironed
a nice fine day.
Hall over to see Hon

Thursday January 10, 1946:
Saviour lead me
lest I stray. Gently
lead me all the way

Friday January 11, 1946:
I was up to Ednas
and made two aprons
on machine

Saturday January 12, 1946:
Mason and Edna here
tonight. No hauling yet
and no frost.

Sunday January 13, 1946:
Earl and I up to Roses
with Mainerd
Hon up to Ednas

Monday January 14, 1946:
The coldest day this year
Harbor froze up. I washed
and got clothes dry

Tuesday January 15, 1946:
Earl and Bud started
to chop our fire wood
snowing tonight

Wednesday January 16, 1946:
In loving kindness Jesus came
my soul in mercy to reclaim
Through grace he has lifted me

Thursday January 17, 1946:
Edna down this
afternoon We are
getting mat rags ready

Friday January 18, 1946:
Earl and Bud in the
woods choping
I washed cleaned today

Saturday January 19, 1946:
Earl down to duck Brook
and got a duck
Edna got her stove

Sunday January 20, 1946:
Hon gone back to the
TB Hospital on the bus
tonight after being here 10 days

Monday January 21, 1946:
a big rain storm
Bud got a Moose
back to Duck Brook

Tuesday January 22, 1946:
if you trust and never doubt
He will surely lead you out
take your burdens to the Lord

Wednesday January 23, 1946:
Earl and Bud choping
fire wood today
Edna Mason + Wilson here

Thursday January 24, 1946:
I have been hooking
on my mat all evening
and am tired out.

Friday January 25, 1946:
I finished my third
mat. a rainy windy
day. no hauling yet

Saturday January 26, 1946:
Mason and Edna here
tonight. I am knitting
M___ a pair of sock feet

Sunday January 27, 1946:
one thing I of the Lord desire
tho all my path hath miry
been, oh make me clean

Monday January 28, 1946:

this morning sewing
and over to Ednas

Hon came home on
the Bus tonight
not able to work

a snow storm about
five inches Maurice
and Bud after ducks

FEBRUARY 1946

Friday February 1, 1946:
Create in me a new
heart. oh Lord. And show
me thy way.

Saturday February 2, 1946:
Hon gone in town for
a few days. Jack Murphy
hauling for Uncle Rob

Sunday February 3, 1946:
Earl + I up to Edna last
evening and they came down
with us after. roads icy

Monday February 4, 1946:
Poor Robs birthday
Troubled heart thy God
is calling
He is drawing very near

Tuesday February 5, 1946:
Hon came home on the
Bus tonight
a nice fine day

Wednesday February 6, 1946:
Hall killed his big
red ox today
Bud + Earl chopping firewood

Thursday February 7, 1946:
Saviour lead me lest
I stray. Gently lead me
all the way

Friday February 8, 1946:
Earl up to Roses
this afternoon with
Layton. Hon up to Anna’s

Saturday February 9, 1946:
And the world + lust passeth
away. But he that doeth the
will of God abideth forever

Sunday February 10, 1946:
Alan brought Rose + family
down in horse & sleigh. gone back
on the Bus. ___ & E___ here too

Monday February 11, 1946:
Fulton hauling our wood
Hon gone in town with
a taxi driver. Earl + I up to Edna

Tuesday February 12, 1946:
Behold what love the Lord
hath bestowed upon us
that we may be called the sons of God.

Wednesday February 13, 1946:
Fulton has hauled
for us three days 12 loads
charged $5.25 a day.

Thursday February 14, 1946:
Ednas baby born
a rain storm has
spoiled the hauling
Ednas Baby Born 10 PM

Friday February 15, 1946:
Oh could I see you now
my boy As fair as in
older times

Saturday February 16, 1946:
Hon came home on
Bus. Earl + I up to
Ednas tonight

Sunday February 17, 1946:
What a friend we have
in Jesus. All our sins and
griefs to bear.

Monday February 18, 1946:
Oh what peace the
Saviour gives
Peace I never knew before

Tuesday February 19, 1946:
Fulton here hauling
this is 4 days have
16 loads out now

Wednesday February 20, 1946:
a snow and rain
storm. roads + fields
covered with sleet

Thursday February 21, 1946:
I finished my fourth
mat today had it in
three days

Friday February 22, 1946:
Fulton hauling for
us this is five days.
Edna got up and out of bed to stay

Saturday February 23, 1946:
We got 20 loads wood
hauled. Cost 27 dollars.
Mason hauled 3 loads

Sunday February 24, 1946:
Hon and Bud stayed
in town over night
in with Fulton

Monday February 25, 1946:
I washed and left
clothes out all night
Earl working for Hall tomorrow

Tuesday February 26, 1946:
Pop’s birthday.
Everett walked across
the Harbor its all frozen over.

Wednesday February 27, 1946:
a snow storm
Earl helping to put ice
in Hall’s ice house

Thursday February 28, 1946:
A big rain storm.
Our pump frozen Maurice
here trying to fix it up.

MARCH 1946

Friday March 1, 1946:
Otis Jennex here today
Leo (?) over the shop in our
batto Harbor froze from our
wharf up

Saturday March 2, 1946:
hauling finished for this
year. Ralph + Elsie
came home on the Bus

Sunday March 3, 1946:
Ralph + Elsie gone back
Mason, Edna, and family
here for supper.

Monday March 4, 1946:
I washed and started
to knit a pair of mittins
for Ralph

Tuesday March 5, 1946:
Nearer my God to thee
Nearer to three. Even though it
be a cross that raiseth me

Wednesday March 6, 1946:
The gas truck is filling
up their Barrels for spring
a lovely day.

Thursday March 7, 1946:
Saviour like a shepherd
lead us “much” we
need thy tender care

Friday March 8, 1946:
Soon our journey here will
be over. Soon we will reach
that peaceful shore

Saturday March 9, 1946:
Hon gone in on the
Bus tonight to work
at the NS Hospital

Sunday March 10, 1946:
Edna here for dinner
Fred here for supper
Pop here tonight

Monday March 11, 1946:
Earl helping Hall saw
his wood this morning. We
were up to Roses this after noon

Tuesday March 12, 1946:
Hall sawed our wood
this morning sawing for
Rob this after noon

Wednesday March 13, 1946:
finished swing Rob’s
wood. And Ross’s today
Edna down tonight

Thursday March 14, 1946:
Earl + Bud started
to split our fire
wood today

Friday March 15, 1946:
if I have wounded any soul today
or caused one soul to go astray if I have
walked in my sinfull way Lord forgive

Saturday March 16, 1946:
Ralph + Elsie came out
on late Bus.
We were to bed

Sunday March 17, 1946:
Ralph + Elsie gone back
on the Bus
Mason + children here to tea

Monday March 18, 1946:
Bud & Earl painting
the Boat a fine
warm day

Tuesday March 19, 1946:
Earl & Bud finished spliting
the fire wood.
we bought Lens lobster traps.

Wednesday March 20, 1946:

Thursday March 21, 1946:
I was up home sewing
today sewed two
quilt tops together

Friday March 22, 1946:
Earl finished painting
the Batto today
A lovely fine March

Saturday March 23, 1946:
Earl + I up home and
to Ednas tonight
Hall got a horse today

Sunday March 24, 1946:
lead me on oh lead me
on. In the path thy
feet have trod

Monday March 25, 1946:
I started to house
clean painted in
Hons room

Tuesday March 26, 1946:
I am painting in the
dining room today
never got the paper for Hons room
yet

Wednesday March 27, 1946:
Saviour lead me lest
I stray Gently lead
me all the way

Thursday March 28, 1946:
I papered the dining
room and cleaned
Buds today

Friday March 29, 1946:
I cleaned Hons room
today finished 4 o clock

Saturday March 30, 1946:
Lord you know my heart
is weary And I am tired of living
wrong. life is growing very dreary (?)
in my heart there is no song

Sunday March 31, 1946:
Mason and Doris here
for supper
a lovely day

APRIL 1946

Monday April 1, 1946:
Hall Arnold painted
our kitchen ceiling
Ralph + Elsie came home

Tuesday April 2, 1946:
Eb Daye working
for Hall again today
a big snow storm

Wednesday April 3, 1946:
I papered the kitchen
Elsie cleaned the pantry.
Eb Daye fixing the Boat

Thursday April 4, 1946:
Bless me oh my Saviour
bless me. As I bow low
at thy feet.

Friday April 5, 1946:
Earl and I painted
around the kitchen and
dining room a snowy day

Saturday April 6, 1946:
The paint never dryed
around the squares
The ground covered with snow

Sunday April 7, 1946:
Bless the Lord “oh my
soul all that is with in me
Bless his holy name”

Monday April 8, 1946:
Earl and I up to Roses
in the Boat.

Elsie up to Ednas
a nice fine day

Wednesday April 10, 1946:
A snow storm
Awfull cold and
windy

Thursday April 11, 1946:
I was up to Ednas
sewing on my quilt
She gave me some candy

Friday April 12, 1946:
When darkness veils his
lovely face, I’ll rest
on his unchanging grace.

Saturday April 13, 1946:
on Christ the solid rock
I stand. All other ground
is sinking sand

Sunday April 14, 1946:
Edna down for tea
Pop here tonight
Bud gone to church

Saviour keep me pure
in heart, ever faithfull
true to thee

Tuesday April 16, 1946:
I put a quilt in
Elsie + I did 1 1/2 rows
Earl + I up to Ednas tonight

Wednesday April 17, 1946:
Ralph & Elsie went
to town today.
Ralph came home tonight

Thursday April 18, 1946:
Elsie came home
on the Bus tonight
Edna down for a while

Friday April 19, 1946:
oh could I see you
now my Boy
As fair as in olden time

Saturday April 20, 1946:
Hon came down on the
Bus las night
All the men put their traps out

Sunday April 21, 1946:
Hon gone back on the Bus
Ralph + Elsie gone to the
concert up the church

Monday April 22, 1946:
Earl sold 50 dollars
of lobsters price
35 and 10 cents

Tuesday April 23, 1946:
I heard the frogs tonight
Earl sold 63 dollars
of lobsters today
Bud had 12.75

Wednesday April 24, 1946:
I was up to Edna
sewing
Dad had $30 today

Thursday April 25, 1946:
Earl Elsie and I were
up at W O Mitchells and
Roses in the Boat

Friday April 26, 1946:
I am passing down the
valley they say is so lone
but I find the path way with flowers
over grown

Saturday April 27, 1946:
a big storm. Never
hauled today. Awfull
big sea

Sunday April 28, 1946:
The odd fellows had
a meeting up in the
church. Earl around sea shore

Sunday April 29, 1946:
Earl got out side today
lost a lot of traps
We got the Chesterfield today

Monday April 30, 1946:
S E Wind
Ralph + Elsie in town
to see about their place
rough out side yet
